Matti Hemmings
25 years old
Matti has been riding Flatland BMX for seven years, two of which he’s
been riding professionally. Since he started riding pro he’s worked
with a wide variety of companies, brands and venues, and is sponsored
by international companies. He’s recently finished a UK based tour with
the Olympic Flame, as well as having featured on an advert with
Toyota. Along with all of this Matti is the organiser of the UK
Flatland Championships. Matti comments ‘Flatland has given me a
freedom of expression, it is as much of an art form as it is a sport
and has became an important part of my life.’

Josh Briars
23 years old
Josh has been riding Flatland BMX for around eight years and over the
last few years has been riding professionally, he’s worked with some
amazing people, from Bboys and music artists to film directors and
youth services. He’s toured in performances throughout the UK and has
recently finished a tour with the Olympic Flame. During 2011 Josh came
second in the UK Flatland Championships. Josh says ‘It’s pretty crazy
the places I’ve been because of BMX!’

Building on last year’s awesome weekend this year will be better than ever. The top level crew of Mountainbike, Skate, BMX, Mountain board, Bouldering, Slackline and more, will be back for more pro-demos and hav-a-go sessions. Plus we have a couple of new athletes lined up.

Bestival 2011 with EZO on pinkbike.com

Our good friends at EZO – makers of the the world’s finest mountain bike apparel and sponsorers of the worlds finest mountain bike freestyle team – have confirmed they will be back on the Freesports Park at Bestival 2011.

These guys GO BIG. Just check the video below from Camp Bestival this year.

Our resident parkour team, have announced they will be inviting some good friends along top level Traceurs- George G-Force Mayfield and Scott Jackson – as well as Jackson Turner, Daniel Pierce and Greg Nagy.

George and Scott are well known on the world parkour stage and together with the Train Hard team, will be demonstrating PK at the highest level throughout the weekend.

Anyone interested in trying PK will be able to use the feature under the expert guidance of all these guys – a pretty unique opportunity, not to be missed.

The Tiki Feather Foil cross section diagram is entirely generated in photoshop based on AKU wireframes and exported pdfs.

Tiki is the UK’s biggest and best surf co, based in North Devon and still run by the same surfers that began the company in the mid-60’s.

The Hot Buttered piece began a new phase in their HB originals brand ID and was featured as a DPS in Surfing World magazine.

HB is an Australian surf co that was born out of Terry Fitzgerald’s shaping experiments and competitive success in the 70’s. The brand is now continued by his sons, Kye (featured in the image) and Joel, who are both incredible surfers.

The cross section of Resin8’s Scoop model is actually not the final version – the production model used PVC stringers, an adaptation after testing. This was an early stage diagram but I like the wood texture in the double stringer configuration.

Resin8 is owned and run by Ruarri Spurgeon who lives down the road. He is a man with a maniacal dedication to producing the best performance surfboard.

Xworks are stoked to announce that Andrei will be joining us at Bestival 2011. Andrei’s show never fails to captivate the crowd with seemingly impossible feats.

With Headline artists such as Pendulum, the Cure and Bjork and a host of back-up acts like Magnetic Man, Beardyman, Groove Armada and Nero, this year promises to be a non-stop weekend from day 1.

The Freesports Park will be on hand to provide mind bending extreme sports demonstrations for the Festival crowd.

We have a killer location for the park. Although the official Map is yet to be released, we can tell you we will be somewhere between the camping and main area, so even the hardest partying fans will not miss us.

At every event we do, our pro Athletes always step up – making it bigger and better for the bigger, louder, shoutier crowd. We’re guessing the Bestival crowd will be the biggest, loudest and shoutiest yet and we know our Athletes wont disappoint. Come and lend your support and appreciation for what the guys are doing and you’ll be rewarded with some of the best Extreme Sport action available to watch LIVE in the UK.

Plus we’ll be opening up the park as normal for anyone wanting to hav-a-go themselves. Bring you bike, skate or just yourself and try the park, wall and parkour set-ups.
